Tony Vasquez was hit and killed by a drunk driver, Noe Ibarra, who admitted to drinking between 4-6 beers while watching a World Cup match in Irving.
Incident Details
According to Irving Police, the incident occurred on June 19 at Cantrell St. and Cibola Dr. A witness saw Ibarra run over Vasquez twice before fleeing the scene. Vasquez was taken to a nearby hospital with numerous broken bones, damaged organs, and severe head/brain trauma, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Vasquez’s family, who are Christians, spoke to KXAS, urging others not to drink and drive. His father, Julio Vasquez, said, ‘My heart is broken in a thousand pieces. He killed someone that had a lot of plans in his life. I just want justice.’
Tony was a talented bass player in the North Texas band, Evolución Latina. His family and friends are mourning his loss, and his family is trusting in God for justice as Ibarra faces charges including intoxication manslaughter.
