Heatwave Prompts Hotel Rush
Temperatures in Paris reached a June record of 40.9 degrees Celsius, prompting a rush on hotels both in cities and beyond. Veronique Savoye, a resident of the historic city of Tours, checked into a local hotel for a four-night stay, citing the need for a comfortable and cool place to sleep.
Matthieu Evrard, CEO of hotel group Les Hotels (tres) Particuliers, reported being inundated with requests, stating that every day he receives between five and ten people contacting him personally to get rooms in their hotels. The group’s countryside hotel brand, Les Maisons de Campagne, has two properties in the Yvelines department, roughly 45 minutes from Paris, which are now fully booked despite not having air conditioning.
