Airbnb owners in Butchertown have announced policy changes after a violent house party led to a triple shooting. The owners of the short-term rental on East Washington Street apologized and outlined changes they plan to implement, including banning one-night stays and prohibiting guests within a 20-mile radius.
Response to the Shooting
A fight broke out inside the property, leading to gunfire, and the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed that three minors were shot in the leg. The owners traced the ID and credit card used for the reservation back to a parent of one of the partygoers.
David Raper, a neighbor, expressed concern about the issue, stating that it goes beyond ensuring accurate Airbnb bookings. He called on law enforcement, lawmakers, the justice system, and parents to help find solutions to the problem of youth violence and chaotic parties.
The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating the shooting, and no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the anonymous tip line at 574-LMPD.
