Blanchard, Louisiana, is set to receive a $5.5 million investment from the state’s Water Sector Program to rebuild its aging wastewater treatment plant. The town has been waiting for nearly a decade for the grant, which will fund a new plant on the same site.
Upgrades to the Sewer Network
According to Blanchard Mayor Jim Galambos, the new plant will alleviate some of the issues the town has been experiencing, including high ammonia levels in the discharge. The project will also include upgrades to the broader sewer network, which city leaders have been planning in collaboration with sewer operators.
Construction is expected to take just over a year, with bids going out by the end of July. The new system will provide cleaner water and be built for the future, benefiting the growing community in Blanchard.
