A Marion County deputy who shot and killed a man accused of attempting to run over deputies will not face charges, according to the state attorney’s office. Officials said that proper use of force was applied.
In September, two people were reportedly banging on someone’s door and yelling for them to call 911, but they fled the scene. Deputies later found the car being driven recklessly and attempted to stop it. After performing a PIT maneuver on the vehicle, deputies said the passenger, who was beaten and naked, exited the car.
The driver, identified as D’Montae Shannon, then drove at the deputies, prompting them to fire. The case is now closed.
