Pursuit Details
The Corvette accelerated rapidly, reaching speeds of up to 156 mph, according to the police report. The vehicle crossed the Arkansas-Missouri state line, where Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers deployed tire deflation devices, deflating the Corvette’s left-side tires.
The Corvette exited onto Missouri State Highway 164, slowed due to tire damage, and was involved in a collision with the patrol vehicle. The driver, Jayden Smith, fled on foot but was apprehended and found to be carrying a backpack with key fobs and his driver’s license.
A search of the Corvette revealed a small amount of suspected marijuana. Smith was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in Caruthersville, Missouri, and faces multiple charges, including felony fleeing and possession of a controlled substance.
