An explosion occurred at the Logansport Water Plant on Water Plant Road, injuring at least 6 people, with one major injury. Hazmat teams have been deployed to the scene.
Emergency Response
Emergency officials have confirmed that the chemical release has been contained to the immediate facility, and no evacuation orders have been issued for the surrounding area. Through traffic on the roads surrounding the water plant has been shut down to clear space for emergency vehicles and crews.
Local officials stated that the municipal water system continues to operate normally, and there is no evidence of a widespread threat to the community’s water supply. However, residents may experience brief service disruptions later today as repair crews inspect the facility and fix the damage.
A spokesperson said, ‘We understand incidents such as this can cause concern, but we want to reassure the public that the situation is being closely monitored by local officials and emergency responders. There is no known threat to the surrounding community at this time beyond the immediate response area.’ The public is urged to avoid the vicinity to give first responders room to work and to monitor official channels for further updates.
