A man fled the scene after crashing into a major water pipe at the Hobe Sound/Osprey Water Plant, disrupting water service for many Hobe Sound residents. The crash occurred around 9 p.m., and a nearby resident reported hearing a loud crash before seeing a man sitting outside the damaged area. The witness said the man repeatedly stated, “I messed up,” before running from the scene.
Deputies are searching for a man in his 20s, described as having a neck tattoo and wearing a white tank top. The damage caused by the crash has resulted in significant disruption to water service and pressure for Hobe Sound residents. Authorities have not yet determined how long the interruption will last.
