Bode Miller, a five-time U.S. Olympic skier and gold medalist, pleaded not guilty to a pair of misdemeanor drug charges in Idaho, according to Fremont County Magistrate Court records.
Charges and Background
Miller was charged on June 6 with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He posted a $5,000 bond to get out of jail and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
Miller, 48, first competed for the U.S. in the Nagano Olympics in 1998. He medaled for the first time at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games, capturing two silvers in the giant slalom and alpine combined.
After failing to make the podium in Turin in 2006, Miller came back with a vengeance, winning three medals at Vancouver 2010. He took home gold in super combined, silver in the super-G, and bronze in the downhill.
He put the finishing touches on his storied Olympic career with a super-G bronze in Sochi 2014. Miller famously broke down in tears after that bronze effort, thinking of his brother who died a year earlier.
