Thousands of bottles of a blood pressure medication are being recalled nationwide, according to a recent announcement from the Food and Drug Administration. The recall includes Chlorthalidone Tablets, USP, 25 mg, with more than 11,400 bottles involved, set to expire in April 2027.
The reason listed for the recall was “failed dissolution specifications.” The Mayo Clinic reports Chlorthalidone “is used alone or together with other medicines to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).” It can also be used to treat fluid retention.
This marks the latest blood pressure medication recall after another widely-used drug was recalled in October. At that time, more than half a million bottles of Prazosin Hydrochloride were recalled over concerns they contained unsafe levels of a cancer-causing chemical.
