Top middle school students from across Louisiana will gather in Shreveport this weekend to test their knowledge of American government and community leadership in the 2026 National Civics Bee State Competition.
Competition Details
The competition, hosted by the Greater Shreveport Chamber and the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry Foundation, will take place on Saturday at Louisiana State University Shreveport. The live event begins at noon in the LSUS University Center Theater and will livestream on KTBS+.
The competition is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Finalists will compete for a chance to advance to the national championship hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C., where national prizes total up to $100,000.
Organizers said the nonpartisan program aims to inspire young people to understand how civic engagement, leadership, and economic opportunity build stronger communities. The Civic Trust of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation created the initiative to encourage youth leadership and civic education.
