A second person has died after a stolen SUV crashed into a tree while being chased by police in Abington, Massachusetts. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office reported that a female victim had died from her injuries in the crash on Washington Street near Central Street.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old Sebastian Hamilton of Weymouth, was pinned inside the SUV with fatal injuries. A 14-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle, and the other three passengers who remained inside had life-threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals and later transferred to Boston hospitals for treatment.
Abington Police Chief John Bonney praised first responders for their “heroic efforts” in caring for the crash victims. The officer involved in the chase has been placed on leave for administrative and not punitive reasons, he said.
