An 18-year-old woman was found fatally shot in a Boston home owned by the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass. The victim’s family identified her as Yoseliani Marte in a GoFundMe campaign, stating she was killed as a result of domestic violence.
Boston police responded to the residence in the city’s Mattapan neighborhood and found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound. The home is currently listed for sale at $1.15 million and is a rental property, according to the Boston Herald.
A spokesperson for Pressley’s office said neither the congresswoman nor her family were involved in the incident, and that Pressley extends her deepest condolences to the family and loved ones impacted by the tragedy.
Family and friends held a vigil for Marte on Sunday night. The manner of death remains under investigation, Boston police said.
