Southwest Austin has seen a surge of new businesses and updates in recent months. One of the newest additions is Casper, a store that sells a variety of mattresses, including memory foam and cooling mattresses, as well as pillows, bedding, and other sleep accessories.
New Businesses
Other new businesses in the area include Fiber Golf, an indoor golf course with two private bays featuring 40-foot simulator screens and a TrackMan radar system, and Switchback Coffee Beer, a community-focused business that serves specialty coffee, craft beer, wine, cider, seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Additionally, the Korean water purification company, Neco, has launched two Austin-area showrooms, including one at Barton Creek Square. The brand offers smart water purifiers and faucets with built-in filters.
Restaurant Updates
New restaurants in the area include Snooze, an A.M. Eatery location that opened at the Arbor Trails shopping center, and Tso Chinese, a Chinese restaurant chain that recently opened its newest location in Southwest Austin.
Urban Bird, a chicken restaurant chain, has also opened a new location in Sunset Valley, and Lucky Duck, a bar with draft beers, signature cocktails, food trucks, outdoor covered seating, yard games, and TVs, has opened its second location in Austin.
Other Updates
Austin Parks and Recreation recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Park Ridge Neighborhood Park, a two-acre park that was funded by the city’s parkland dedication program.
The Menchaca Road Branch of the Austin Public Library will close this summer for a major modernization project, and Prototype Vintage, a store that sells vintage clothing and accessories, has closed its South Congress location after 20 years due to the need for extensive electrical and plumbing updates.
COVE, a women’s boutique, has relocated to South Lamar Boulevard after 10 years off South Congress Avenue, and 512 Eye, an optometrist’s office, has been serving the Southwest Austin community for 10 years.
Donut Taco Palace, a donut and taco shop, is celebrating its 20-year anniversary, and Levi’s, a clothes retailer, is slated to open a new location at Barton Creek Square.
