A 13-year-old girl was taken into custody by Jonesboro police after she allegedly bit, scratched, kicked, and spat on officers during a struggle on July 10. The incident began when officers responded to a disturbance involving a juvenile who was refusing to return home.
Details of the Incident
According to the Jonesboro Police Department incident report, the girl had left on foot and was followed by the person who called the police. Officers found her walking in the middle of a road and attempted to stop her, but she continued walking and did not respond. The officer reported grabbing the girl to stop her, and she allegedly pulled away as he tried to place her in handcuffs.
As another officer helped restrain the girl, she bit the first officer’s hand near his thumb and broke the skin. The officer reported pushing her face and striking her in the face with his hand to make her release the bite. The girl continued resisting and kicked one officer in the pelvis and scratched another until she broke the skin on the officer’s wrist.
Three officers eventually placed the girl in handcuffs, and she was transported to the Craighead County Juvenile Detention Center. She was taken into custody on two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of second-degree battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
