Tallahassee police are investigating a weekend shooting that injured 12 people, including six minors, outside the Florida A&M University homecoming football celebration near Bragg Memorial Stadium. The incident occurred late Friday night as crowds were leaving the game between Florida A&M and Alabama State.
Police appeal for community help
Chief Lawrence Revell said the department has set up a dedicated tip line and an online portal for residents to upload photos or video that might shed light on the event. “We know there are people who saw something, heard something or may have video that could help us piece together exactly what happened,” Revell said. “We need our community’s help. No detail is too small, and no piece of information should go unreported.”
The preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out before the gunfire erupted, and the area was crowded with fans exiting the stadium. Eleven of the victims sustained gunshot wounds; six remained hospitalized the following morning, with one in critical condition.
University response
Florida A&M University posted on its social‑media channels that the shooting occurred near campus but affirmed that the campus remained safe for students and staff. The university is working with law‑enforcement officials and will provide support to those affected.
Ongoing investigation
No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators continue to review video footage and are seeking witnesses who can identify the individuals involved. Residents who have any information are encouraged to call the tip line at 850‑555‑1234 or submit media through the department’s online portal at tallahasseepolice.gov/tipline.
The Tallahassee Police Department thanked the community for its cooperation and reiterated its commitment to bringing those responsible to justice.
