A Jonesboro, Arkansas male is accused of raping an 11-year-old after the child disclosed allegations of abuse to a daycare worker, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department responded on June 18 to St. Bernards Emergency Room regarding a sexual assault allegation involving a juvenile. The child’s mother told officers she had been contacted by a daycare worker after the child reported that their mother’s boyfriend had touched them inappropriately.
The child was later interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center in Jonesboro. During that forensic interview, the child alleged that Roshawn Britt, 27, had sexually abused them multiple times, according to the affidavit.
Investigators wrote that the child described the alleged abuse, which also included another child in the home. The affidavit also states the child described threats and coercion, including allegations that Britt threatened punishment if the child did not comply.
Circuit Judge Scott Ellington signed the arrest warrant for Roshawn D. Britt. Britt was arrested on a charge of rape. The probable cause affidavit was for one class Y felony charge, but after Judge David Boling read the affidavit in open court on Monday during 8.1 hearings, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jessica Thomason stated that more charges would be filed against the suspect.
Judge Boling set the bond at $1 million. A GPS ankle monitor and a no-contact order are also part of the bond conditions, should the defendant be released.
