Prescott, AZ – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that the woman authorities in Tijuana, Mexico, identified on Oct. 23 is not Shayna Feinman, the Arizona resident who vanished while walking to a friend’s house on March 9, 2024.
Physical evidence disproves identity claim
Detectives compared the physical characteristics of the Tijuana find with Feinman’s known attributes and concluded they do not match. The sheriff’s office shared the confirmation with U.S. investigators, who corroborated the assessment.
Family remains hopeful
Feinman’s sister, Kara, told Arizona’s Family she did not recognize the woman in the Mexican photos and had no hard evidence linking the individual to her sister. Kara noted this is not the first time rumors of a sighting have surfaced, and such unsubstantiated reports are disheartening for the family.
Investigation continues
Yavapai County deputies say the case remains active. Two men were arrested in connection with Feinman’s disappearance earlier this year, but no further leads have emerged. The sheriff’s office continues to pursue any information that could locate Feinman.
Reward still offered
A $20,000 reward for tips leading to Feinman’s whereabouts remains in place. Authorities encourage anyone with credible information to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials in Tijuana escorted the unidentified woman to a safe location, but have not released an updated identity. The sheriff’s office will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
