The Wyoming Survey and Analysis Center released its 2026 election survey on Wednesday, offering a snapshot of state residents’ attitudes toward President Trump, the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, and confidence in the integrity of local elections.
President Trump’s approval in Wyoming
Even though 72% of Wyoming voters supported President Trump in the 2024 general election, the latest poll shows that about 49% of respondents disapprove or strongly disapprove of the way the president is handling his job, while roughly 39% approve or strongly approve. The remaining 12% are neutral. The survey notes that its question wording differs from previous years, so a direct historical comparison is not possible. Nationally, the president’s approval rating has slipped from roughly 48% at the start of his second term in 2025 to 34% this month, according to a CNN Poll of Polls.
Wyoming Freedom Caucus faces slim disapproval majority
The poll also asked about the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, a group that suffered significant losses in the state Legislature during the August primaries. About 51% of respondents disapprove or strongly disapprove of the caucus, while roughly 21% approve or strongly approve, and 28% remain neutral. The results mirror the caucus’s recent electoral setbacks, where it lost most of its House seats after briefly holding a majority in 2024.
Wyoming voters remain confident in election reliability
Despite ongoing national debates about election security, 56% of Wyoming respondents said they believe vote counts across the state will be very reliable, and another 28% expect them to be somewhat reliable. About 16% are neutral or think the counts will be somewhat or very unreliable. These confidence levels are similar to those reported in a 2024 survey that focused specifically on the presidential race, though a slightly higher share of respondents this year expressed uncertainty about reliability.
In both years, Wyoming residents expressed far greater confidence in the state’s election process than in the reliability of vote counts nationwide.
Context and implications
The survey highlights a nuanced political landscape in Wyoming. While President Trump retains a strong base that delivered a decisive victory in 2024, a larger share of respondents now express disapproval of his performance. At the same time, the Wyoming Freedom Caucus, once a dominant force in the state House, now faces a modest majority of disapproval among voters.
Nevertheless, the strong confidence in Wyoming’s election integrity suggests that residents continue to trust local election officials and the state’s voting infrastructure, even as national conversations about election security persist.
These findings may inform campaign strategies as candidates and parties prepare for the upcoming general election, emphasizing the importance of addressing voter concerns about leadership while reinforcing the reliability of Wyoming’s electoral system.
