Walnut Ridge, Ark. – On Tuesday, Oct. 20, the community will gather at 1217 W. Main St., beside Lawrence Memorial Hospital, for a job fair aimed at strengthening the local economy and helping families find steady work.
Partners bring resources to job seekers
Arkansas Workforce Connections, Lawrence Healthcare and the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to provide a one‑stop venue for residents seeking employment. The Arkansas Workforce Connections Mobile Workforce Center will be on site with computers, high‑speed internet and staff ready to guide attendees through the application process.
Local employers showcase openings
The Chamber is compiling job listings from its member businesses for an online Jobs Board and will distribute printed copies during the event. Employers are encouraged to submit detailed job descriptions and application instructions ahead of time so that the fair can feature a broad range of opportunities, from entry‑level positions to skilled trades.
Community leaders stress the importance of work
“Helping employers find workers and helping residents find opportunities are both part of building a stronger local economy,” said Terrence Ward, executive director of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce. “This event brings job listings, technology and hands‑on assistance together so people can take that next step.”
In addition to the fair’s primary focus on employment, participants will have the chance to learn about workforce development programs, training grants and other resources that can help them advance their careers.
How to get involved
Businesses with open positions are asked to forward their job descriptions and application details to the Chamber for inclusion in the fair’s materials. Residents who plan to attend should bring a current résumé and be prepared to complete applications on the spot.
