Unified Community Connections, a Maryland nonprofit dedicated to supporting people with disabilities, is gearing up for its 23rd annual Hoodstock fundraiser. The grassroots music festival will take place Friday, Nov. 13, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, 1415 Key Highway.
Family‑Friendly Fun with a Purpose
Unlike a formal gala, Hoodstock offers a relaxed, tie‑dye‑friendly atmosphere where families can enjoy live music spanning the ’60s, ’70s and today. Baltimore‑based band Roses n Rust will headline a lineup of local musicians performing rock, pop, soul, blues and country tunes.
“Our annual fundraiser isn’t a traditional gala, and we think that’s a good thing,” said Amy Kreitz, president and CEO of Unified Community Connections. “Hoodstock is the laid‑back concert fundraiser where guests say no to black‑tie and yes to tie‑dye. Join us for a family‑friendly evening dedicated to helping Unified continue its mission of supporting people with disabilities.”
Award Honors and Community Recognition
During the evening, Unified will present this year’s Samuel A. Tucker Memorial Can Do Award to an individual who has benefited from the agency’s services. The organization will also honor the late O.J. Brigance, former board member and senior advisor for player development with the Baltimore Ravens, who presented the award for 13 years.
Impact and History
Since its humble beginnings as a backyard concert in Baltimore’s Otterbein neighborhood in 2004, Hoodstock has grown into a major fundraising engine. Last year’s event raised $107,000, bringing the cumulative total to $1.3 million over 22 years. Proceeds support Unified’s residential, day‑service and assistive‑technology programs that help people with disabilities achieve independence and a high quality of life throughout Maryland, including Baltimore, Cumberland, Frederick and Hagerstown.
