Tomorrow Bookstore is bringing a family‑friendly celebration of horror literature to Indianapolis on Thursday, Oct. 29. The event, titled Women in Horror, will be held at Indiana Landmarks, 1201 Central Ave., from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Featured authors and program
The evening will showcase three bestselling authors who have made a name for themselves in the genre: Delilah S. Dawson, known for Monstera; Rachel Harrison, author of Kiss, Slay, Replay; and Nadia Davids, writer of Cape Fever. All‑ages attendees will have the opportunity to meet the authors, purchase copies of their books and obtain signatures during the 6:30 p.m. book fair.
At 7:30 p.m., a moderated conversation will begin. Cemetery Dance Magazine managing editor Haley Newlin will lead the discussion, which will include readings from each author, a dialogue about the craft of horror writing, and a question‑and‑answer segment for the audience.
Tickets, food and community support
Tickets start at $17.91 and can be purchased online or at the door. Local vendor Smoking Goose will offer food for purchase, giving attendees a chance to enjoy a snack while they browse the books.
The Women in Horror series is sponsored by Indiana Landmarks and Indiana Humanities, underscoring the partnership between cultural institutions and the local literary community. Last year’s inaugural event featured authors such as CJ Leede, Delilah S. Dawson, Neena Viel, Jenny Kiefer and Leslie J. Anderson, with moderators Trang Thanh Tran and Regan Sandberg.
Why this matters for families and faith‑based readers
Tomorrow Bookstore’s commitment to an all‑ages format reflects a broader effort to provide wholesome entertainment that families can enjoy together. While horror fiction can be thrilling, the event emphasizes storytelling craft, imagination and the power of community gathering—values that align with traditional family and faith‑centered principles.
Indiana Landmarks, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the state’s historic architecture, is providing a safe, accessible venue for the gathering. The partnership demonstrates how local nonprofits can work together to enrich cultural life without compromising family values.
