Milwaukee police charged three individuals on Oct. 19 after a dramatic chase on Oct. 14 that left an officer injured. The suspects – Sincere Scott, 22, Jerrell Shead, 19, and Javeonte Thomas, 17 – were apprehended on a series of felony counts.
Chase details
At about 1:46 p.m., officers spotted a dark‑blue Toyota RAV4 with excessive window tint and a Florida registration near 57th and Center. When the driver, identified as Scott, failed to stop, the officers initiated a pursuit. Court records show the vehicle ignored six stop signs and accelerated to over 75 mph through a residential area.
The chase concluded at 48th and Hadley when the driver lost control, sideswiped a light pole, and struck a tree. All three occupants fled the scene on foot.
Officer assaulted
According to prosecutors, an officer pursued Scott into an alley on North 47th Street. During a struggle, Scott attempted to disarm the officer, seized the officer’s firearm magazine, and struck the officer’s head multiple times with it. The officer reported seeing stars and hearing ringing in his ears. He eventually regained control of Scott until a second officer arrived to assist.
The officer’s body‑camera captured part of the encounter before the device fell to the ground. He was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where doctors treated a significant head laceration that required several stitches.
Drug evidence
After Scott’s arrest, police searched him and recovered 110.2 grams of cocaine base and 8.1 grams of fentanyl. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered multiple cell phones, firearms, and bags containing substances that tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Later that night, officers located and arrested Shead on North 48th Street. While fleeing, Thomas discarded baggies that also tested positive for the same controlled substances.
Legal proceedings
All three suspects appeared in court on Oct. 19. A court commissioner set cash bonds of $2,500 for Shead, $30,000 for Thomas, and $75,000 for Scott.
The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office filed assault charges related to the officer’s injury, along with drug possession and trafficking offenses. The case underscores the department’s commitment to public safety and swift accountability for violent confrontations.
