Central Texas health providers have a cause for celebration. Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology, a multi‑location practice headquartered in Austin, announced this week that it has reached its 25th anniversary of caring for patients with diabetes, thyroid disease, obesity, osteoporosis and other endocrine and metabolic conditions.
From a three‑person team to a regional employer
Dr. Thomas Blevins founded the practice in 2001 with his wife, Donna Blevins, a registered nurse. The original office began with just three staff members. Today, the organization employs 149 people, including 12 physicians, and operates three clinics: 6500 N. MoPac, Bldg. 3, Ste. 200 in Austin; 110 Deer Ridge Drive in Round Rock; and 5000 Davis Lane, Ste. 200, also in Austin.
Comprehensive endocrine services
The practice’s clinical offerings span the full spectrum of endocrine health. Patients can receive treatment for diabetes, thyroid disorders, obesity, osteoporosis and other metabolic conditions. “What I’m most proud of is the people here and the care they provide to patients,” Dr. Blevins said in the release. “My hope is that we continue to provide the highest level of endocrine care and make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.”
Research driving innovation
Beyond direct patient care, Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology maintains a robust research department with more than 15 years of experience conducting clinical studies. The research team works to support the approval of new medications and technologies related to diabetes management. Dr. Blevins now serves as the practice’s Medical Director of Clinical Research, overseeing study design, patient recruitment and data analysis.
Local residents who are interested in contributing to medical advancement can volunteer for ongoing clinical trials. Participation helps accelerate the development of safer, more effective treatments while offering patients access to cutting‑edge therapies.
Community impact
The practice’s growth reflects a broader trend of expanding specialty care in the Austin‑Round Rock corridor. By providing both routine endocrine management and opportunities for research participation, Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology supports families seeking high‑quality, locally available health services. The organization’s commitment to hiring locally and maintaining multiple clinic sites also contributes to the regional economy.
