Hundreds of Texans traveled to the State Capitol to testify against the proposed $100 billion 765-kV transmission plan, which would serve industrial demand in the Permian Basin. We agree that this plan is misguided, as it would burden residential ratepayers with nearly $100 billion in lifetime costs without generating any new power. The plan threatens tens of thousands of acres of private property and productive agricultural land, which could disrupt multigenerational businesses and weaken our food supply.

We stand with the courageous Texans who are calling for a better solution, including protecting private property, preserving Texas agriculture, and building reliable generation close to where the electricity is needed. As a state that values individual liberty and constitutional respect, we must prioritize the rights of property owners and ensure that our energy solutions do not harm our communities.
