Tesla launches autonomous Robotaxi service in Fort Worth

Fort Worth residents can now hail a fully autonomous ride‑share vehicle from Tesla’s new Robotaxi fleet. The service officially started at 6 a.m. on November 2, making Fort Worth the seventh city to join Tesla’s expanding network of driverless taxis.

Service area and pricing

The company’s map shows coverage throughout downtown Fort Worth and large portions of the city’s north, south and west sides. East Fort Worth is served primarily along Interstate 35W to Riverside Drive south of Interstate 30, with additional coverage north of I‑30. A single trip costs $8.98, charged to the rider’s credit card via the Robotaxi app.

First ride test

Fort Worth Report reporter Eric Garcia tested the service by requesting a ride from the Near Southside District to a downtown restaurant. The app directed the Robotaxi down West Rosedale Street, up 8th Avenue through the busy hospital district, across Interstate 30 to West 7th Street, and arrived at the destination in about 15 minutes despite midday traffic. The ride was briefly cancelled by the app before completing, but the $8.98 fare was still applied three times to the reporter’s card.

Expansion and future plans

Prior to the launch, local drivers reported seeing Tesla‑branded vehicles conducting test runs on Fort Worth streets. Tesla already operates Robotaxi services in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and three Florida cities—Miami, Orlando and Tampa. The company has announced plans to bring the autonomous rideshare to San Antonio, Phoenix, Las Vegas and Jacksonville in the coming months.

How to use the service

Users must download the Robotaxi app, available for iOS and Android devices, and create an account if they do not already have a Tesla account. Existing Tesla customers can log in with their current credentials. Once logged in, riders can request a vehicle, view the estimated arrival time, and track the robotaxi’s progress on the map.

Local impact

City officials have welcomed the addition of a cutting‑edge transportation option, noting its potential to reduce traffic congestion and provide a convenient alternative for residents without personal vehicles. The service also aligns with Fort Worth’s broader goals of embracing innovative technologies that support economic growth and improve quality of life for families and commuters.
