Temple University issued an alert Monday night to its Philadelphia campus community after learning of an alleged sexual assault that occurred at an off‑campus residence. University officials said the incident involved two students who knew each other, but no further details were released pending investigation.
University response and resources
The university’s statement emphasized the courage of the reporting student and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting anyone who experiences sexual misconduct. “It takes courage to report, and we are committed to working with every student who experiences sexual misconduct, ensuring they are supported and made aware of all available resources,” the statement read.
Temple assured the community that individuals found responsible for sexual assault will be held accountable. The alert also reminded students of the university’s consent policies and the resources available through the Title IX office, counseling services, and campus safety.
Indecent exposure warning at the Student Center
In addition to the assault alert, the university warned that a person not affiliated with Temple was observed exposing himself at the Howard Gittis Student Center. Security staff have been given a photo of the potential suspect and instructed to call Temple Police immediately should the individual return.
Additional security walkthroughs have been implemented at the Student Center to deter further incidents and protect students and visitors.
How to report
Anyone who witnesses concerning behavior or has information about either incident is encouraged to contact Temple Police at 215‑204‑1234. The university continues to work closely with law‑enforcement and campus resources to ensure a safe environment for all students.
