On Saturday night, Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a fire in a detached garage located in the 2700 block of Airport Road. The call came in just after 10 p.m., and firefighters arrived within ten minutes.
Rapid response limits damage
When crews arrived, the garage was fully engulfed in flames and threatened the adjacent home. Using three hose lines, firefighters were able to control the blaze by about 10:25 p.m., preventing the fire from entering the house.
Although the home escaped direct fire damage, intense heat caused some damage to the structure. No residents or firefighters were injured during the incident.
Investigation underway
The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is now investigating the cause of the fire. Officials have asked anyone with information to contact the department.
This swift action highlights the dedication of local first‑responders in protecting families and property in Suffolk.
