The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the community for assistance in identifying a man suspected of shoplifting at a Publix grocery store on U.S. Highway 1. The incident occurred on Oct. 26 at the Publix located at 7576 S. U.S. Highway 1 in St. Lucie County.
What investigators say
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect selected four packages of thin‑sliced sirloin tip steak, a 12‑pack of Angel Soft toilet paper and three jugs of Gain laundry detergent. Rather than proceeding to a checkout lane, the man allegedly bypassed the registers, presented what appeared to be a receipt to an employee, and left the store without paying for the merchandise.
Photo released and request for tips
Deputy Urbina released a photo of the individual and is asking anyone who recognizes him to come forward. The sheriff’s office stresses that any information, no matter how small, could be crucial to the investigation.
Anyone with details is urged to contact Deputy Urbina at (772) 462‑7300 or email [email protected]. The investigation remains ongoing, and the department thanks the public for its cooperation.
Why community involvement matters
Public‑safety agencies rely on citizen tips to solve crimes quickly and keep neighborhoods safe. In a time when many families are focused on protecting their homes and loved ones, a prompt response can help restore confidence in local commerce and deter future thefts.
The sheriff’s office reminds residents that reporting suspicious activity is a civic duty that aligns with the community’s shared values of responsibility and respect for the rule of law.
