The Southern Festival of Books is back in Nashville, bringing more than 200 authors to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park for a two‑day celebration of reading and community. The event runs Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Family‑friendly programming
Festival organizers have designed a schedule that appeals to readers of all ages. Children can enjoy a scavenger hunt, bingo cards, and other games while adults attend panels covering fiction, nonfiction, young adult literature, poetry, science fiction, mystery and more. Throughout the weekend, authors will sign copies of their books, which are available for purchase at the festival’s official bookseller, Parnassus Books.
Dolly Parton tribute
A highlight of this year’s festival is an interactive installation honoring Nashville native Dolly Parton. The tribute celebrates her contributions to music, literature and philanthropy, and offers visitors a chance to engage with her legacy in a creative setting.
How to attend
The festival is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for popular panels and to explore the park’s scenic surroundings. For a complete list of authors, panel topics and activity times, visit sofestofbooks.org.
