Sheridan has reason to celebrate this week as two members of its community — one a longtime public servant and educator, the other a standout high school student — have each earned well-deserved recognition on a statewide stage.
Former Sheridan Mayor and educator Jim Wilson has been honored by the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA). The recognition highlights Wilson’s decades of dedication to both public service and education in the Sheridan community. Having served as mayor and as an educator, Wilson’s contributions have touched generations of Sheridan residents, and the WHSAA honor reflects the lasting impact he has made on Wyoming’s students and schools.
Adding to the community’s pride, Colson Coon of Sheridan High School has been named a finalist for the Milward Simpson Award — one of Wyoming’s most prestigious recognitions for high school students. Being named a finalist is a significant achievement, placing Coon among the top student leaders in the state and shining a spotlight on the quality of young people coming out of Sheridan High School.
Together, these two honors speak to something that Sheridan residents already know well: this is a community that produces dedicated public servants, passionate educators, and exceptional young people. From the classroom to city hall, and from high school hallways to statewide award ceremonies, Sheridan continues to make its mark across Wyoming. Congratulations to both Jim Wilson and Colson Coon on their well-earned recognition.
