Senate hopefuls Hinson and Turek make final appeals to Iowa voters

With less than 24 hours before Iowa voters head to the polls, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ashley Hinson and Democrat Josh Turek are making their final appeals across the state. Both candidates emphasized how federal decisions affect everyday Iowans and urged residents to cast their ballots.

Hinson rallies in Des Moines

Hinson held a rally in Des Moines, joined by several prominent Iowa Republicans, including U.S. Rep. Zach Nunn, Sen. Chuck Grassley, and State Auditor Brenna Bird. She pledged to protect Iowa’s values and financial well‑being, saying, “There are politicians on both sides of the aisle who have forgotten how hard Iowa is working. Our pledge to you is we will not forget. We will continue to listen and work for you every single day because your stories matter. Your lives matter. And we will continue to fight for Iowa every single day.”

Turek visits western Iowa towns

Democratic candidate Turek spent the afternoon traveling through Onawa, Le Mars, and Sioux City alongside Democratic 4th Congressional District candidate Dave Dawson. He highlighted the challenges faced by rural communities, noting, “I wanted to speak to farmers. I wanted to speak to people in rural communities because honestly, they’re being the most affected by bad state and federal policy, like the tariffs, like the war in Iran, like healthcare cuts. And so to get out there, it’s made me a better person and a better legislator to get out there and hear from everybody.”

Poll shows race within margin of error

The latest New York Times poll shows Turek ahead of Hinson by a single percentage point, a margin that falls within the poll’s reported error range. The tight numbers underscore how every vote will matter on Election Day.

What’s at stake for Iowans

Both candidates framed the election as a choice about how federal policies impact Iowa’s farms, families, and economy. Hinson stressed a commitment to limited government, lower taxes, and protecting agricultural interests. Turek warned that current tariffs, foreign conflicts, and healthcare cuts are hurting Iowans and called for policies that support rural prosperity.

Get out and vote

Iowa voters can find their polling locations and voting hours on the state’s official election website. Early voting continues through the weekend, and absentee ballots remain available for those who need them. With the race this close, both campaigns urge Iowans to make their voices heard before the polls close on November 3.

As the final day of campaigning unfolds, Hinson and Turek each hope that their messages resonate with the voters who will decide who represents Iowa in the U.S. Senate for the next six years.
