Denton residents will soon have a new option for music education as School of Rock announces the opening of a local campus in February, early next year. The national music school, which operates over 40 locations across Texas, plans to bring its proven instructional model to the community.
According to the company’s website, certified instructors at the Denton location will provide private lessons in piano, guitar, bass, drums and voice. In addition to one‑on‑one instruction, the school will run eight structured programs that span a range of ages and skill levels, allowing students to join a band, perform live and, in some cases, record their music.
The entry‑level program, called “The Rookies,” is designed for children ages six to seven who have no prior musical experience. Participants will rotate through multiple instruments in a group‑lesson setting, giving them a broad exposure to music making. For more advanced students, the “AllStar” program serves musicians age 17 and under who have demonstrated proficiency. AllStar participants will have the opportunity to join a multi‑city tour, showcasing their talents beyond Denton.
School of Rock’s model emphasizes hands‑on learning and performance experience, which many families view as a valuable complement to traditional school music programs. The Denton opening adds to the city’s growing cultural amenities and provides a new venue for youth to develop artistic skills in a supportive environment.
What’s next: The school is slated to open its doors in February. The company will release further details on enrollment procedures and program schedules as the opening date approaches, giving interested families time to plan for participation.
