Today co‑host Savannah Guthrie of “TODAY” has again asked the public for assistance in locating her mother, Nancy Guthrie, 84, who was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona residence on February 1. The case remains unsolved, and investigators have received no substantial leads despite a ransom demand.
Family’s heartfelt appeal
Guthrie posted a heartfelt message on social media Sunday, describing her mother as “a light in this world” and urging anyone with information to come forward. “We need someone to help us, tell us what you know. The reward is still available. Please, we are begging you,” she wrote. She also shared a photo of her mother and a drawing made by her granddaughter, which reads, “I know it might not seem like it but I really need my mommy.”
“The world goes on, things appear ‘normal’ as we try to keep going and be strong, especially for our young kids – but it’s not and it never will be,” Guthrie said. She named several family members, including her children Annie, Tommy, Cam, Kristine, and Mike, expressing the deep pain they feel and their inability to move forward without answers.
Law‑enforcement response
According to NBC News, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has assembled a task force to investigate the kidnapping. The task force has traveled to Florida to consult with laboratory scientists in an effort to advance the case, the sheriff’s office confirmed.
Authorities have not disclosed details about the ransom demand or any suspects. They continue to follow any tips that may arise and have urged the public to report any relevant information to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
Community support and prayer
Guthrie thanked those who have offered kindness and support, emphasizing the importance of prayer. “Thank you to all those who have been kind and shown the best of humanity. Join us in praying without ceasing,” she said.
The family hopes that renewed attention to the case will generate new leads and ultimately bring Nancy Guthrie home.
