Exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and an open kitchen remind you that this place has roots.
The menu reads like a love letter to the American South filtered through a chef who has traveled widely and paid attention. Expect fried chicken done with real technique — a shatteringly crisp crust giving way to meat that is impossibly juicy — alongside thoughtfully composed vegetable dishes that make you reconsider every assumption you had about Southern cooking being heavy-handed. NuLu rewards the walker, so plan to arrive on foot from your hotel, wander the galleries on East Market before your reservation, and settle in at Porch knowing you have made an excellent decision. Louisville has no shortage of good tables, but this one has a way of becoming your table before the evening is done.
