Republican Rep. Brian Mast is on the trail in Florida’s 21st Congressional District, which covers St. Lucie, Martin and the northern part of Palm Beach County. As he seeks a sixth term, Mast is putting local concerns front and center, telling voters that clean water, veteran care and tax relief are the pillars of his campaign.
Protecting South Florida’s waterways
Mast pointed to his long‑standing work on the region’s water‑quality challenges, especially the effort to curb toxic microcystin algae blooms that have plagued Lake Okeechobee. He said the next step is building the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) reservoir south of the lake and advancing a new management plan for the lake’s outflows. “Ten years ago our waterways were probably the worst the community has ever seen in terms of toxic algae discharges,” Mast said. “We got the EPA to write a standard for what is toxic, and we did that.”
Veterans remain a top priority
As a former Army officer and the current chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Mast stressed that veterans deserve the care and support they earned. He highlighted legislation he has backed to improve access to health services, expand education benefits and streamline VA claims processing for Florida’s service‑members and their families.
Cutting waste and lowering taxes
In the same breath, Mast warned against federal waste, fraud and abuse, saying his committee work is focused on rooting out inefficiency. “The government has to do more with less, so the people can do more with their money,” he said. He framed tax relief as the most direct way Congress can help families keep more of what they earn, noting that reductions would apply across every tax bracket.
Local impact and voter message
For residents of the Treasure Coast, Mast’s priorities translate into tangible benefits: cleaner estuaries that support tourism and fishing, stronger support networks for veterans returning to the area, and lower tax burdens for households and small businesses. He urged voters to consider his record of delivering federal resources to the district and to keep the momentum going in the 2026 midterm election.
“I’m running to keep fighting for our water, our veterans and our families,” Mast concluded. “Together we can protect the environment, honor those who served, and give Floridians the economic freedom they deserve.”
