Rawhide Cycles and The Hideout Revitalize Boise’s South Broadway with Vintage Bikes, Coffee and Handcrafted Art

Boise’s South Broadway corridor has gained a new gathering place that blends three passions under one roof. Rawhide Cycles and The Hideout, located at 1737 S Broadway Ave, offer coffee, vintage motorcycle restoration and a rotating display of handcrafted art and jewelry. The space is the result of two husband‑and‑wife duos turning personal interests into a community‑focused business.

From a love of motorcycles to a living museum

Brandon Wurtz, owner of Rawhide Cycles, grew up surrounded by classic motorcycles. He says each bike tells a story, and restoring them is a labor of love that can take up to a year. The process demands patience, precision and a deep respect for the craftsmanship of the original builders. Visitors can watch ongoing projects, learn about the history of each model and even purchase a fully restored bike.

The Hideout: coffee and curated creativity

Across the shop, Bridgette Nelson runs The Hideout, a coffee‑served gallery that showcases her own creations and those of local artisans. Nelson’s background includes work in a blacksmith shop, formal sculpture training and a degree in art. Her venture, Garden City Projects, supplies the handmade jewelry, metalwork and other pieces displayed for sale. Patrons can sip a locally roasted brew while browsing unique, locally made treasures.

A shared vision for community

Both entrepreneurs emphasize that the space is more than a retail destination; it is a place where Boise residents can connect over shared interests. “We wanted to create a spot where people can enjoy a cup of coffee, admire a piece of history and discover local craftsmanship,” Wurtz said. Nelson added that the combination of vintage motorcycles and art reflects the “treasure” of the valley’s creative spirit.

Supporting local talent and the economy

Rawhide Cycles and The Hideout contribute to Boise’s small‑business ecosystem by hiring local technicians, baristas and artists. The businesses also partner with regional events, offering motorcycle displays at festivals and providing coffee for community gatherings. Their presence adds a distinctive cultural offering to South Broadway, encouraging foot traffic and supporting nearby merchants.

Visiting the hidden gem

Open daily, the venue invites anyone from morning coffee seekers to motorcycle enthusiasts. Whether you’re looking for a handcrafted necklace, a freshly brewed espresso, or simply want to watch a 1970s Harley being rebuilt, the space offers a little something for everyone. The owners hope the concept will inspire other entrepreneurs to blend passions and serve Boise’s growing demand for authentic, locally rooted experiences.
