Authorities allege Sanders shot and killed Estevan Gomez after first demanding money from him. Investigators say the demand occurred just before the encounter turned deadly.

Police reports indicate the incident began when Gomez and a coworker mistakenly approached the wrong vehicle. Sanders confronted the two men, accusing them of trying to steal the car, and that confrontation escalated into gunfire.
