West Chester police returned to the Gregory Creek Lane property for a second week of digging as they continue the search for Rigoberto Jose Garcia, who vanished in January 2018. Drone footage released Monday shows crews excavating a new area after a tip suggested the missing man’s remains could be on the land.
Arrest of property owner’s son
Over the weekend, Gary Tzeiranakis, the son of the property’s late owner Lawana Kay Tzeiranakis, was taken into custody in Crawfordsville, about 170 miles from West Chester. Crawfordsville police records indicate he was arrested on Halloween night and charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun. He is being held without bond.
According to the Crawfordsville police chief, officers stopped Tzeiranakis in a vehicle and discovered he possessed a firearm. The chief emphasized that Tzeiranakis is a convicted felon and, under Indiana law, is prohibited from possessing a gun.
No charges linked to disappearance
While several sources told WLWT Investigates that Tzeiranakis and Garcia once worked together, Tzeiranakis has not been charged in connection with Garcia’s disappearance. Fairfield Township police have identified a person of interest in the case but have not publicly named Tzeiranakis as that individual.
Police previously indicated that the person of interest has ties to Lawana Kay Tzeiranakis, who passed away on Oct. 20, according to her obituary. Investigators have not provided further details about the nature of those ties.
Ongoing search efforts
Fairfield Township detectives continue to search the Gregory Creek Lane property for any sign of human remains, though none have been found to date. The investigation remains active, and authorities have not disclosed how long the search will continue.
Anyone with information about Garcia’s disappearance or activity related to the property is urged to contact Fairfield Township police at 513‑785‑4173 or Crime Stoppers at 513‑352‑3040.
