Washington County, Pa. – A police pursuit on Friday evening ended in a dramatic crash near the entrance of Lindenwood Golf Club on Galley Road, resulting in the arrest of a suspect with an active warrant for aggravated assault.
Police response and chase details
State troopers, along with officers from North Strabane and Peters Township, responded to reports of a vehicle fleeing law enforcement on Route 19. According to Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Rocco Gagliardi, the suspect was wanted for aggravated assault against a police officer, fleeing and eluding, and a suspected DUI.
Video supplied to Action News 4 by Pete La Rose shows officers surrounding the suspect’s car and issuing commands. The driver appears to attempt a getaway, striking a sign near the golf club’s entrance before trying to continue forward.
Shortly thereafter, a police cruiser collides with the suspect’s vehicle, and additional cruisers join the effort, effectively boxing the car in. The suspect’s vehicle is repeatedly struck, preventing further escape. A helicopter from Sky 4, Pittsburgh’s news chopper, captured the aftermath, showing damage to both the suspect’s car and at least one police cruiser.
