Unofficial results from the November 3 general election show that most incumbent state legislators representing the Plano area retained their seats, with a handful of close races underscoring the community’s active civic engagement.
House District 67 stays Republican
Republican incumbent Jeff Leach edged out Democrat Jordan Wheatley by just 203 votes, earning 42,566 ballots (50.12%) to Wheatley’s 42,363 (49.88%). Leach fell behind during early voting but closed the gap with Election Day ballots, illustrating the importance of every vote in tightly contested districts.
District 66 remains in GOP hands
In neighboring District 66, which includes portions of Plano, Republican Matt Shaheen won a comfortable 55.45% of the vote, tallying 47,373 ballots against Democrat Sandeep Srivastava’s 38,059 (44.55%). Shaheen’s margin reflects solid support for his legislative agenda among local voters.
Democratic hold on District 70
Democratic incumbent Mihaela Plesa also secured re‑election in District 70, receiving 37,948 votes (58.32%) compared with Republican challenger George Flint’s 27,120 (41.68%). Plesa’s decisive win highlights continued Democratic strength in that portion of Collin County.
New Democratic voice in District 89
Democrat Angie Carraway defeated Republican incumbent Candy Noble in House District 89, capturing 44,156 votes (50.80%) to Noble’s 42,764 (49.20%). The 1,392‑vote margin adds a fresh Democratic perspective to the state legislature from the Plano corridor.
Federal race: Collin County’s share of the 3rd Congressional District
In the Collin County portion of the 3rd Congressional District, Democrat Evan Hunt led with 134,580 votes (51.19%) over Republican incumbent Keith Self’s 128,340 (48.81%). Because the district extends beyond Collin County, these numbers alone do not determine the overall congressional outcome.
County‑wide contests
