The City of Pflugerville and the City of Hutto are investing heavily in local transportation infrastructure. Six projects—three in each community—have been approved or are already under construction, promising smoother traffic flow, safer pedestrian routes, and modernized roadways for residents.
Upcoming projects in Pflugerville
Kelly Lane Phase 3 will expand the corridor from Moorlynch Avenue to Weiss Lane to four lanes. The plan adds four roundabouts and a suite of pedestrian improvements. City staff and the project consultant met with Federal Emergency Management Agency officials on Sept. 11 to discuss the first round of comments on the flood‑risk map. Completion is targeted for Sept. 2028, with a $32 million price tag funded by the city.
Carl Stern Drive and FM 685 intersection will receive a new right‑turn lane on the westbound approach. The contractor submitted full design plans for city review in September. The $2 million improvement is being funded by the City of Hutto, with a timeline still to be determined.
Ongoing projects in Pflugerville
Immanuel Road widening reconstructs the existing roadway into a three‑lane thoroughfare from Pecan Street to Killingsworth Lane. The project adds curb and gutter, upgraded intersections, street lighting, underground storm infrastructure, and shared‑use paths. Construction began Oct. 6 and is slated to run through Jan. 2028, at a cost of $28 million funded by the city.
Kelly Lane intersection improvements introduce dedicated left‑turn lanes, U‑turn lanes, and signal modifications. Both frontage roads will feature two straight lanes, two left‑turn lanes (one serving as a combined turnaround) and a right‑turn lane. The City Council approved the contract with Joe Bland Construction on Aug. 11, and work started in early October. The $2 million project should be finished by March 2027.
Parkway Drive reconstruction will replace pavement, install new curb, improve drainage, and add sidewalks and streetlights. Construction began mid‑September and is expected to conclude in July 2027. The city is allocating $3.4 million for the effort.
Ongoing project in Hutto
CR 137 and FM 1660 intersection improvements will add additional lanes and a roundabout at the crossroads of County Road 137 and FM 1660. A change order in August added $26,768 for a school walkway. The project, funded by the Hutto Economic Development Corp., is slated for completion in April and carries a $9.1 million price tag.
These initiatives reflect both cities’ commitment to modernizing transportation, reducing congestion, and enhancing safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. By investing more than $70 million in road work, Pflugerville and Hutto are positioning themselves to accommodate future growth while preserving the quality of life that families and faith‑centered communities value.
