Colorado Springs police responded to multiple emergency calls just after midnight on Saturday, reporting gunfire in the parking lot of the 4200 block of Apollo Village Circle. Dispatchers logged the first calls at approximately 12:04 a.m.
Officers arrived at the scene and found the parking area where shots had been fired, but no victim was present at that location. Shortly thereafter, the department was notified that a person who had been shot had been transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The victim was taken to surgery and, according to the police department, is now listed as serious but stable. Detectives from the Colorado Springs Police Department’s Assault Unit have taken over the investigation.
At this time, police have not released any details regarding potential suspects or a motive for the shooting. The department has asked the public to refrain from speculation until more information becomes available.
Residents in the area are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any further information that may assist investigators. The Colorado Springs Police Department continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as the investigation progresses.
