Naperville, Ill. – The City of Naperville is pleased to announce the hiring of Andrea Lamberg as its next Director of Finance. Lamberg, a resident of Naperville, will begin her duties on December 14 after a thorough interview process conducted by city officials.
Extensive municipal finance background
Lamberg brings more than 18 years of progressive leadership in municipal finance. Most recently, she served as Finance Director for the Village of Oswego, where she helped shape the village’s 2026‑2030 Strategic Plan. In that role she crafted a $150 million financing plan for the Lake Michigan water project known as WaterLink, and she oversaw the implementation of a sustainable water‑rate structure that preserved the village’s strong ‘Aa2’ bond rating from Moody’s.
Prior to her work in Oswego, Lamberg held finance leadership positions in several Illinois municipalities, including Finance Director for the Village of Hinsdale and the City of Park Ridge. Earlier in her career she worked as an accountant for the Village of Lincolnwood and as a budget coordinator for Brown County, Wisconsin.
Proven record of fiscal stewardship
Throughout her career, Lamberg has managed municipal budgets of up to $250 million and overseen 50 separate government funds. She has a reputation for developing long‑term financial strategies and guiding multiple enterprise‑software technology implementations. Her commitment to sound financial reporting has been recognized repeatedly; she has earned the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Excellence in Financial Reporting award and the Distinguished Budget Presentation award.
Lamberg is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Public Finance Officer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Studies (Accounting) from the University of Wisconsin‑Green Bay and remains active in professional organizations, volunteering with both the Government Finance Officers Association and the Illinois Government Finance Officers Association.
Local roots and community focus
“I am excited for the opportunity to serve as Finance Director in the city I grew up in and call home,” Lamberg said. “I have seen firsthand how Naperville has evolved. In a city that has seen so many changes, one thing that hasn’t changed is its strong financial position. I look forward to joining Naperville’s outstanding team, ensuring continued financial stability, and contributing to the ongoing success of a community that is an important part of my life.”
The appointment underscores Naperville’s ongoing focus on fiscal responsibility and long‑term planning. City officials expect Lamberg’s expertise to support upcoming capital projects, maintain the city’s high credit ratings, and continue the tradition of transparent budgeting that residents rely on.
Lamberg’s first day on the job will be December 14, and she will report directly to the City Manager and work closely with the City Council’s Finance Committee.
