Montgomery County Board of Elections reported that over 100,000 people voted on Tuesday, marking a robust turnout for the 2026 election cycle. Board officials said the day proceeded with few problems, allowing voters to cast their ballots efficiently.
Polling sites stay busy through the evening
Deputy Director Guy Aber explained that poll workers are prepared for a surge of voters around 5 p.m. and will continue processing ballots well into the night. “We’ve got a duty in line by 7:30 p.m. tonight, so as long as you’re in line, we will get you voted,” Aber said. He added that the board has plans in place to keep voters moving and to ensure a smooth close of the polls.
Election staff across the Miami Valley have been fielding calls and assisting poll workers to keep lines moving. The board noted that the majority of voters experienced a straightforward voting experience, with only a handful of minor delays reported.
Community members encourage participation
At a polling location in Trotwood, longtime resident Wayne Howard urged younger voters to get to the polls early. “I pray that they all will come out and vote,” Howard said, referencing high‑school students, college students, and working adults alike.
Observers also noted a modest turnout at Grace United Methodist Church on Salem Avenue, indicating that many voters chose alternative sites throughout the county.
Looking ahead
The board expects to begin post‑election processing once the polls close, with staff preparing to certify results in the coming days. Officials remain confident that the high turnout reflects strong civic engagement in Montgomery County and that the election was conducted with integrity and efficiency.
