Montana hunters recall 2003 triangular sighting as new UFO files emerge

When hunters venture deep into Montana’s rugged backcountry, the silence of the timber can feel unsettling. That atmosphere has taken on a new twist after a recent release of federal UFO files highlighted a mysterious black triangular object, echoing a 2003 sighting by a Wyoming elk hunter.

2003 Wind River Range encounter

Gary Medicine Cloud was hunting elk with a partner in Wyoming’s Wind River Range in 2003 when his companion harvested a bull elk. While scanning the surrounding woods for bears, Medicine Cloud says he saw an “extremely large black triangular object” roughly 20‑40 yards long gliding silently between mountain peaks. He describes the craft turning sharply and shooting straight upward before vanishing from view.

Government files describe a similar craft

Later, federal agents released a report describing a smaller, black triangular object hovering over a ridgeline in the western United States. The agents noted that the craft accelerated quickly, producing no audible noise or visible exhaust. The report does not identify the object, and officials have not linked the two incidents.

Montana hunters weigh in

Montana hunters, accustomed to long nights in dense timber, say they have experienced their own unexplained phenomena. One archer recalls seeing a pink‑glowing orb moving through the trees, insisting it was not a headlamp or flashlight. Another hunter reports hearing strange, low‑frequency hums while tracking elk at altitude. While none claim definitive proof of extraterrestrials, the stories reinforce a sense of mystery that pervades remote hunting grounds.

“I don’t think aliens are hanging out at elk camps in the Rockies,” one local wrote, “but if they’re searching for intelligent life, I suggest avoiding the wall tent after someone busts open a bottle of whiskey!” The sentiment reflects a blend of humor and genuine curiosity that characterizes the hunting community.

Why the sightings matter to hunters

For many, these accounts are more than odd anecdotes; they underscore the importance of staying alert in isolated terrain. Unexplained aerial activity can distract hunters, potentially affecting safety decisions such as bear awareness and navigation. Sharing experiences also builds a sense of camaraderie among hunters who spend countless hours alone in the wilderness.

As the government continues to declassify UFO-related material, Montana’s hunting community hopes for clearer answers. In the meantime, they remain vigilant, keeping an eye on the sky while tracking the elk that sustain their way of life.
