Minot, N.D. – The Minot Symphony Orchestra is bringing a galaxy‑wide experience to the city next spring. Audiences will enjoy the original John Williams score performed live while the classic film Star Wars: A New Hope plays on the big screen.
Event details
Conductor Efrain Amaya will lead the orchestra for both performances, which are scheduled for May 2 at 3 p.m. and May 4 at 7 p.m. The concerts will be held in Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on the Minot State University campus.
“People have surround sound, and surround sound can be very good, but having the live orchestra, they go back and forth between watching the film and watching the orchestra live, and it’s so well in sync that oftentimes you even forget that it’s a live orchestra that’s actually playing the music,” said Ellen Fenner, a spokesperson for the symphony.
Family‑friendly fun
Fenner added that the symphony encourages attendees to wear cosplay costumes, provided they do not block the view of other guests. The policy aims to let fans express their love for the franchise while keeping the viewing experience comfortable for everyone.
Tickets are already selling quickly; more than 300 have been purchased since the announcement went live this afternoon. Interested patrons can buy tickets through the Minot Symphony’s website at www.minotsymphony.com or by calling 701‑858‑4228.
