Midland residents can clear out unwanted items without cost at the county’s free Community Trash Drop-Off Event on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, organized by Midland County and timed with Basin Action Day, provides a convenient way for households to dispose of bulky waste, hazardous materials and other items that are otherwise difficult to discard.
According to FirstAlert7, the drop‑off site is the Midland County Road & Bridge Department at 2435 E. Highway 80. County employees will be on‑site to direct participants to the appropriate area and answer questions.
The county will accept the following categories of material:
- Large household items
- Electronics
- Metal and appliances
- Unused or expired prescription medications
- Tires, without rims
- Used motor oil and oil filters
- Batteries
Specific guidelines apply to tire drop‑offs. Only Midland County residents may bring tires, and a valid ID is required. Tires must be removed from rims, and the county will not accept tires from commercial shops or businesses, nor foam‑filled, farming, heavy‑equipment or commercial tires. Participants should be prepared to unload and stack their own tires.
Midland County officials emphasize that the event is designed to keep the community clean while protecting the environment. By providing a centralized location for proper disposal, the county hopes to reduce illegal dumping and ensure hazardous items are handled safely.
What’s next: Residents who wish to take advantage of the service should arrive between 9 a.m. and noon on Nov. 7, bring a valid ID for tire drops, and be ready to handle their own items. No registration is required. For additional information, residents can contact the Midland County Road & Bridge Department.
