WICHITA, Kansas – On Thursday, Mark Arts celebrated a beloved local tradition by opening its 59th annual Holiday Tables exhibition. The event, held at Mark Arts’ downtown venue, invites residents to wander through a series of meticulously crafted tablescapes that highlight the creativity of Wichita’s artists, designers, nonprofits and businesses.
Local creators and nonprofits take center stage
Mark Arts CEO Katy Dorrah emphasized the breadth of community involvement, noting contributions from organizations such as Habitat for Humanity and KETCH, as well as a host of independent designers. “You’ll see wonderful things from businesses like Habitat for Humanity and KETCH, which are two local nonprofits, to wonderful designers in our community as well,” Dorrah said.
Each table tells a story, blending seasonal décor with regional flair. Visitors can admire handcrafted centerpieces, custom lighting and themed settings that range from classic winter wonderlands to modern, minimalist designs. The exhibition serves as a showcase for Wichita’s vibrant arts scene and provides a platform for emerging talent to reach a broader audience.
Shopping, artisan boutiques and evening gatherings
Beyond the visual displays, the Holiday Tables exhibition offers a pop‑up shopping experience. Local artisans operate temporary boutiques where attendees can purchase handmade jewelry, holiday ornaments, unique gifts and seasonal treats. The event also includes scheduled evening gatherings that feature live music, spoken‑word performances and opportunities for community members to connect over shared holiday traditions.
Admission is $12 per person, and the exhibition will run through Sunday, giving families and individuals ample time to explore the installations and support the cause.
Proceeds support arts education
All proceeds from the exhibition are directed toward Mark Arts’ ongoing youth and adult education programs. These initiatives provide free or low‑cost classes in visual arts, music, theater and digital media, ensuring that creative opportunities remain accessible to all Wichita residents, regardless of income.
“Our mission is to nurture the next generation of artists while keeping the arts alive in our community,” Dorrah added. “The Holiday Tables exhibition not only celebrates the season but also fuels the educational programs that empower our students and adults alike.”
Mark Arts invites families, seniors, students and anyone interested in the arts to attend the exhibition, enjoy the festive atmosphere and contribute to a cause that strengthens Wichita’s cultural fabric.
