The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) is inviting residents to two indoor, free Halloween‑themed gatherings this week, underscoring the department’s commitment to family‑friendly community outreach.
Oct. 27 Trunk‑or‑Treat
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the LPD will hold its eighth annual Lincoln Police Union Trunk‑or‑Treat at the Sandhills Global Event Center. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and offers children a safe environment to collect candy from decorated police vehicle trunks, enjoy music, and meet officers in costume.
Oct. 29 Police‑Fire Halloween Swearing‑In
Thursday, Oct. 29, marks the third annual LPD and Lincoln Fire and Rescue Halloween Swearing‑In. Located at 6601 Pine Lake Road, the ceremony will feature two sessions between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Because parking is limited, attendees must RSVP in advance.
Both events are open to the public, free of charge, and held indoors, providing a secure alternative to traditional street‑level trick‑or‑treating. LPD spokesperson Jane Doe emphasized that the department’s goal is to foster positive relationships with families and to demonstrate that law‑enforcement can be a supportive presence in everyday community life.
Residents are encouraged to bring their children, dress in costume, and enjoy the festive atmosphere while interacting with the men and women who keep Lincoln safe. The department hopes the celebrations will reinforce community bonds and showcase the value of local public‑service agencies working together for the benefit of families.
